The state of Alaska has a total of 15 colleges and universities available for nurses wishing to further their education. The most notable is the University of Alaska system which has campuses in 8 cities throughout the state.
There is currently no doctoral nursing program offered in Alaska but the University of Alaska, Anchorage, has a very well respected nursing school which offers degrees in Associate of Applied Science (AAS), a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science. The University of Alaska Juneau offers an Associate of Applied Science degree, which is a 2 year program to qualify for an RN licensure examination.
